Army Vet. Exposes War Crimes

Dear Mr. Waddle,
My name is John Needham.  I am a member of Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, (BCo,2-12INF,2BCT,2ID .  I deployed with my unit to Iraq from October 2006 until October 2007 when I was medically evacuated for physical and mental injuries that I suffered during my deployment.  The purpose of my letter is to report what I believe to be war crimes and violation of the laws of armed conflict that I personally witnesses while deployed in Iraq.

  1. I read every word, watched the video and looked at the photo's. This is difficult. I am not an American, I am Irish. I am however married to an American and therefor have dual citizenship. My feelings about this are mixed. I read the comments at the end of the piece and almost across the board there was hate against America. As an Irishman I understand the hate. My country is still held, in part, by the British government. I know what it is like to have my countries land and liberty taken by a foreign invader. So I can sympathize with some of the sentiments expressed against America. But I do not hate a single British person, nor a single American for the crimes their countries committed.
My difficulty with Needham is that he murdered his girlfriend and that is not any more excusable than the atrocities committed by the men in his unit.

I will show this to my husband and also e-mail it to my father-in-law, a former marine.
Thank you for putting it here.
