Conversation About NDAA + NDAA Summarized In One Paragraph

"It's so blatantly unconstitutional"

The National Defense Authorization Act is a bill already passed by our congress and senate allowing the government to detain anyone in the world (including Americans) suspected of terrorism in a military (i.e. Guantanamo Bay) or civil prison until the war on terror IS OVER, without a fair trial (hello, bill of rights, where are you?). People have been arguing about the word "requirement" in the bill. It states that this (detainment) does not extend to US citizens because US Armed Forces are not required to hold US citizens in MILITARY prisons. Meaning that they are allowed to hold these "suspected terrorists" in CIVIL prisons (the one you drive by all the time, you know, with all the barbed wire) UNTIL THE END OF THE ENDLESS WAR ON TERROR. Obama signed this bill after convincing us that he would veto it, the same man who was for shutting down Gitmo when he was first elected.

If this isn't your cup of tea, if this rubs you the wrong way AT ALL...Sign the ACLU's pledge to fight worldwide indefinite detention for as long as it takes. It is a very short form (Name and E-mail)

The conversation:

(Patriot 2 links Patriot 1 to NDAA video stating that if you have enough food in your house to last you more than 7 days, you can be classified "a terrorist")

Patriot #1:

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:15pm
the whole point is, they can call whoever they want
a terorist

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:16pm
also if you are missing a finger, my sister in laws brother is missing a finger

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:16pm
i just think its ironic that every single senator, THE PRESIDENT , all fit criteria for suspected terrorists
someone needs to make some posters about that
and start spreading them online

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:16pm

ill do it, i know the perfect place to get the word out [edit: fight club?]

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:17pm
public awarness needs to be raised
the ACLU has a petition

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:17pm
yeah man

if i was charlie sheen i would spread the word thru twitter...why dont any celebs do shit

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:18pm
its so blatantly unconstitutional

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:19pm
i mean even dubstep artists dont talk about shit that matters and they are "underground" but have a a big enough following to cause change esspecially with the revolutionary music they make

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:19pm
i thought for sure it would never go through
didnt even worry me

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:20pm
same , but its all part of this "conspiracy" of course its a conspiracy, people are always conspiring to do something whether its political or economical
i dont even think people know the definition of conspiracy or conspire

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:20pm
i am just amazed at how nobody was aware of it, very few people

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:20pm
they just think "wait tin foil hat? funny!kim kardashian?"

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:20pm
that makes me think that whoever was paying 200k to a senator, was paying off the media
and others
and people r dumb

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:21pm
you should post shit around [your university]

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:21pm
im sure people are all about it at [my uni]
the motto of the school is "challenge convention, change the world"

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:21pm

not ONE news source wrote aabout it, other wise that article would show up on google

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:21pm
extremely liberal schol

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:22pm
like if NYtimes wrote about it, that would be above alex jones

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:21pm
its nuts
jon stewart did a good piece on it on the daily show
forbes wrote baout it i think

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:22pm
the only thing ive seen in a real news source is "obama says he will pick terorrists carefully, even if they are american" basically
i get bothered by the daily show making things funny, iw wish every once in a while ihe would take his audience aside and be like "but seriously folks, this is really fucked up...no joke"

Patriot #2:
Report · 9:23pm
he made it pretty serious
i thought
or at least the message was hard to not take seriously
but apparently people didnt

Patriot #1:
Report · 9:24pm
good
nah i dont understand
we should have the right to just be like "nah i dont like that as a whole"
as a whole not in quotes
just signed the pledge ACLU
"disinfo" agents are even going as far to say that the bill people are outraged about is the "old bill" and they wrote a "new one"
i bet someone is busy hacking the senators credit cards right now so they can make monthly donations to the ACLU

When is the last time we've had problems with a domestic terrorist? I've heard that Homeland Security dodges 99 terrorist attacks a day. I'm pretty sure most of those are from overseas.

  7. I agree, this is a travesty, and I can't believe how far we've fallen that hardly anyone is even complaining about this.

  8. When the shit hits the fan, and people wonder how the government can just go around locking up random people, ignorance will be to blame
